About the product
What does RuVi do?
RuVi translates your calls in real time. You speak your language, and the other person hears the translation in your voice — with your timbre and intonation. You see what they say as subtitles in your language.
Which calling apps does it work with?
Any: Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and others. RuVi becomes a microphone in your system, so you don't need to change the app you're used to.
Does the other person need to install anything?
No. The other person needs neither an app nor an account — they simply hear the translation.
How many languages are supported?
60 languages. You can switch the language pair in two clicks, even mid-conversation.
How fast is the translation?
Translation starts while you're still speaking: the other person hears the first words within a few seconds.
How will I understand the other person?
Their speech appears on screen as subtitles in your language. On Standard and Pro, you can also listen to their translated speech in your headphones.
Can I add my own terms and names?
Yes. Names, company names and professional terms can be added to your personal glossary — the translator will render them correctly.
Installation and requirements
Which systems does RuVi run on?
Windows 10 and 11, macOS 12 and later (Apple Silicon and Intel), and Linux, including Steam Deck. A mobile version is on the way.
What do I need on Windows?
The free VB-Audio Virtual Cable: install it once and restart your computer. Details are on the download page.
Do I need headphones?
Yes, they're strongly recommended. The app picks up the other person's audio from your headphones; with speakers, translation works worse because of echo.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. Translation runs on the server, so you need a stable connection.
What do I need on a Mac?
The free BlackHole 2ch — a virtual microphone that carries the translation to the other person. On macOS older than 14.2 you also need BlackHole 16ch. Details are on the download page.
Voice and privacy
How is my voice created?
In the app, you read a short text aloud — it takes a couple of minutes. From this recording, RuVi creates a copy of your voice.
Can someone else use my voice?
No. Your voice belongs only to you. It can only be created from a live recording in the app — it can't be faked from someone else's recording.
Are my conversations stored?
No, conversations aren't stored on the server.
Do I need to tell the other person about the translation?
In some countries and states, the law requires you to tell the other person that their speech is processed by AI and that your speech is voiced by a synthesized voice, and sometimes to get their consent. Where the law requires it, let the other person know.
Payment
How much does it cost?
Plans start at $15 a month for 5 h of translation. All plans and rules are on the Pricing page.
What is time charged for?
Only for the time the translator is working. Pause and live voice mode are free, and your balance is always visible in the app.
